Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving processes within the manufacturing plant. The position is also responsible for collaborating with maintenance and automation to troubleshoot any situation that might arise. The individual also must be a highly effective trouble-shooter as they will be the highest level of in-house support. Further, this position will require people who are highly successful at working as part of a team. This role has a responsibility for ensuring both food safety and quality of Chobani product.
Responsibilities
• Design methods for maintaining or increasing process efficiencies in the filler/packaging departments while improving production costs, yields, quality and safety
• Prepare conceptual engineering designs and floor plans for filler/packaging equipment
• Use Continuous Improvement tools to troubleshoot problems and identify solutions which reduce downtime and conserve costs
• Serve as engineering subject matter expert on local project teams
• Determine the layout of piping, equipment and utilities for engineering changes.
• Research engineering topics, prepare studies and conduct trials with productions (participation is a must)
• Assist with transitioning capital projects to the production plant team
• Need to be open minded and willing to adapt to modern technologies and processes
• Develop & Maintain documentation in support of filler/packaging changes (Process Description, Scope, Process Drawings, etc)
• Solicit and critique proposed filler/packaging changes, submittals and designs
• Review pertinent agency regulations; advise operations, maintenance and project managers accordingly
• Use team management skills to lead the design group during the conceptual phase of project development
• Direct development of an action plan and estimate requirements for resources management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project
• Assess vendors for competence, capabilities, resources, and financial status. Review and negotiate bid documents
• Accountable for project development and execution to include budget, schedule, and performance
• Prepare monthly reports, detailing progress and costs for top management
• Follow Chobani’s safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices
Requirements
• BS in Engineering (preferably chemical or mechanical) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1- 3 years of experience (including experience at the plant level)
• Industrial experience preferred
• Continuous Improvement experience preferred (Six Sigma, Lean)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in oral and written form
• Experience creating and drafting technical documents and reports
• Ability to perform and interpret advanced mathematical concepts such as calculus, linear algebra, logarithms and quadratic equations
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, computer aided design (CAD), etc.

Compensation Range: $74,400.00 - $111,600.00, plus bonus.
