Summary
The Director, Architecture is responsible for managing architectural and interior design projects from conception to completion. This role includes overseeing design development, creating project specifications, coordinating with internal stakeholders, architects, interior designers and consultants, and ensuring that project goals are met on time and within budget. Ensures architectural and design integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Project Design and Planning
- Lead the conceptual and schematic design phases, ensuring project goals align with business objectives and architectural & interior design standards.
- Oversee the development of detailed project drawings, models, and specifications, and ensure compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and other regulations.
- Lead the development of firmwide architectural design processes and standards.
Project Management
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless project progression.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance, addressing any issues that arise.
Client and Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, addressing questions, and managing expectations.
- Present design concepts, progress updates, and final proposals to clients and stakeholders.
- Foster strong relationships with all project participants, encouraging collaborative problem-solving and open communication.
Quality Control and Compliance
- Ensure highest levels of architectural quality, design accuracy, fabrication, and craft.
- Oversee and manage the process of obtaining necessary permits and approvals, and compliance with industry standards throughout each project phase.
- Stay up-to-date on design and architectural trends, innovations, sustainability and local building codes to incorporate best practices into project designs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- Licensed architect and/or interior designer with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in design or project architecture.
- Experience working on Retail, Hospitality, Workplace design buildouts
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other architectural design software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with sustainable design and relevant certification for green building practices.
- Experience working on Manufacturing buildouts
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes.
This role typically requires a mix of design skills, technical expertise, and strong project management abilities to deliver high-quality interior and architectural projects that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements.

Compensation Range: $144,000.00 - $216,000.00, plus bonus.
