Summary

The Senior Staff Data Engineer is responsible for leading data infrastructure initiatives and driving operational excellence across the data engineering function. This role ensures reliable data ingestion, orchestration, and application delivery while supporting organizational analytics goals and fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration. The Senior Staff Data Engineer will report to the Senior Staff Analytics Engineer- Data & Analytics, and serve as a strategic partner to analytics, engineering, and business intelligence teams.

Responsibilities

•    Designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and orchestration workflows using Airflow and modern data stack technologies. 
•    Building and optimizing data ingestion processes from diverse sources to support analytics and business applications. 
•    Developing and maintaining analytics engineering workflows using dbt, SQL, and Python to transform raw data into analytics-ready models. 
•    Leading code reviews, establishing best practices, and mentoring junior engineers on data DevOps principles and tooling. 
•    Collaborating with analytics and BI teams to understand requirements and deliver robust data solutions. 
•    Monitoring pipeline performance, data quality metrics, and system health while implementing proactive improvements. 
•    Managing data infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation for data applications. 
•    Documenting technical specifications, architectural decisions, to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability. 

Requirements

•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience. 
•    7+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or DevOps roles with demonstrated progression in technical complexity. 
•    Advanced proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and application development. 
•    Expert-level SQL skills and hands-on experience with dbt for analytics engineering. 
•    Experience with workflow orchestration tools, preferably Apache Airflow, for managing complex data pipelines. 
•    Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT patterns, and modern data stack technologies. 
•    Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and translate business requirements into technical solutions. 
•    Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of troubleshooting complex data issues and implementing scalable solutions. 
•    Commitment to continuous learning, staying current with emerging data technologies, and sharing knowledge with the team.

The salary range for this full-time position is $140,000.00 - $260,000.00, + bonus + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
