Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Fermentation Scientist II to join our R&D team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, fermentation science, and process development, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, innovative environment. This role will focus on developing and optimizing fermentation processes to support new product development and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize protocols for media preparation, cell culture growth, and culture storage, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
- Design and test fermentation media recipes at laboratory scale to evaluate growth performance and scalability.
- Plan, execute, and analyze fermentation development studies at both lab and pilot scales, including experimental design, process optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate records of experimental data, perform statistical analyses, and prepare comprehensive project reports and summaries.
- Manage fermentation development projects from concept through implementation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and deliverables.
- Communicate project updates, technical findings, and recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and all internal quality standards.
Requirements
- Master’s degree (M.S.) in Food Science, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred.
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in microbiology and fermentation science.
- Strong knowledge of fermentation media formulation, cell culture techniques, and bioreactor operations.
- Background in food process and product development is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with research tools, data analysis, and statistical methods.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and develop innovative solutions.
- Passion for understanding complex fermentation systems from both biological and operational perspectives.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to safety, data integrity, and research excellence.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Compensation Range: $77,000.00 - $115,000.00, plus bonus.
