Summary

The Packaging Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing facility, ensuring optimal productivity, safety, and quality standards are met. This role involves managing supervisors and operators, optimizing processes, and ensuring that all regulations,including environmental and safety, are adhered to. The Packaging Manager will drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance, minimize downtime, and meet production goals. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of production supervisors and workers.
  • Ensures goals of exceeding safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, labor, and cost measures are being met.
  • Identify losses, benchmark progress and improve equipment productivity by focusing and optimizing OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) program.
  • Ensures production schedules are completed on time and in full.
  • Monitor and maintain shift production staffing level.
  • Analyze downtime, scrap, yields, quality defects and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Monitors and reports results against key performance indicators including clear daily and weekly reporting metrics.
  • Assist in recruiting and hiring manufacturing team members.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises plant SOPs as necessary.
  • Monitoring operations and trigger corrective actions.
  • Identify and resolve production-related problems promptly.
  • Ensure production floor areas are kept clean, organized, and free of potential hazards.
  • Write or participate in developing CER’s for annual CAPEX spending.
  • Conduct communication meetings.
  • Coordinate with maintenance to address needed repair work modifications within areas of responsibility.
  • Lead employee development initiatives through feedback, training, and coaching to support team growth and performance.
  • Update daily / weekly production communication boards.
  • Support new product lines and development as needed.
  • Create and implement 5s strategy and process.
  • Manage Materials and Inventory Transactions

Requirements

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  •   High School Diploma and/or bachelor’s or associate degree (beneficial).
  •   5+ years of Management/Supervisory Experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
  •   Cost reduction & OEE projects/programs implementation.
  •   Continuous improvement plan & projects implementation.
  •   Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  •   Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
  •   Employee Conflict resolution.

Physical Requirements:

  •   Ability to reach above shoulder level, climb, balance, kneel, bend over, etc.
  •   Ability to use hands and fingers to assemble small objects, boxes, etc.
  •   Be physically active for 8 hours without becoming fatigued or out of breath.
  •   Stand for 8 hours a day.
  •   Frequently lift and or move 40+ pounds.
  •   Occasionally lift and or move 75+ pounds.

Compensation Range: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00, plus bonus.
