Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day roasting operations within a high-volume coffee manufacturing environment. This role ensures production targets are met safely, efficiently, and with consistent product quality. The supervisor manages a team of Roasting Leads, Roasters and Roasting Assistants, drives continuous improvement, ensures compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, and supports operational excellence.

Schedule: 2-2-3 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

Responsibilities

Production Leadership & Execution

  • Oversee daily production activities for coffee roasting and grinding to ensure
  • throughput, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Allocate labor, equipment, and resources to meet production plans.
  • Monitor performance metrics such as output rates, OEE, scrap, downtime, and quality
  • results.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor to coach, observe, and support
  • operators.

Team Management & Development

  • Lead, schedule, and oversee a team of production employees across multiple shifts or lines.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching, training, and skills development.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, teamwork, and respect.

Food Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure production processes comply with company quality standards, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and preventive measures for quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate production, batch, and traceability documentation.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce plant safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and engage in safety audits and incident investigations.
  • Lead by example, ensuring employees work safely and responsibly at all times.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
  • Identify and drive process improvements to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and optimize labor utilization.
  • Support kaizen activities, lean initiatives, and 5S programs.
  • Maintain equipment uptime by partnering closely with maintenance and engineering teams.

Communication & Reporting

  • Provide daily production updates, shift handoff communication, and KPI reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including maintenance, quality, engineering, supply chain, and leadership.
  • Review staffing, material shortages, downtime, and risks with management proactively.

Requirements

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing supervision or production leadership.
  • Experience in food, beverage, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, workflow management, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to analyze metrics and drive data-based decision-making.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience in coffee roasting, grinding, or packaging operations.
  • Working knowledge of food safety systems (GMP, HACCP, SQF, etc.).
  • Lean / Six Sigma or similar CI experience.
  • ERP or MES systems experience.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, moving machinery, forklifts, and  food handling requirements.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move materials for extended periods.
  • Will be required to work off-shifts, weekends, or holidays based on production needs.

Compensation Range: $68,000.00 - $103,000.00, plus bonus.
