Summary
The Director of Sanitation leads all aspects of sanitation and ensures a world-class standard of cleanliness, food safety, and regulatory compliance. This role oversees sanitation programs, allergen cleaning, and CIP, serving as the technical authority on sanitation while also being a key partner in regulatory, third-party, and customer audits.

- Lead, manage, and continuously improve all sanitation programs, ensuring procedures are executed as documented and fully compliant with internal standards and industry best practices
- Partner with the VP of Operations, the Director of Quality, and the Sanitation team to keep the plant inspection-ready every single day
- Champion a culture of food safety and sanitation across the site in partnership with Quality and Twin Falls leadership
- Participate in microbiological investigations and drive continuous improvement initiatives in sanitary systems
- Validate effectiveness of sanitation processes
- Develop and maintain Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) that align with regulatory requirements and corporate standards
- Serve as the technical lead for all CIP programming, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure systems are both effective and efficient
- Build, implement, and sustain a best-in-class CIP validation program with appropriate technical and personnel resources
- Design and deliver robust technical training programs covering sanitation fundamentals, chemical handling, CIP mechanics, and equipment hygiene
- Track, analyze, and report key sanitation metrics, including CIP/changeover efficiency, MSS compliance, chemical usage, and right-first-time performance
- Cultivate strong vendor partnerships; establish programs, metrics, and accountability to meet service agreement expectations
- Partner with Procurement on vendor selection and contract requirements for sanitation services and supplies
- Support and/or lead corrective action planning, documentation, and follow-up for any identified sanitation gaps, keeping leadership informed
- Ensure Plant Sanitation and Food Safety managers are fully trained on corporate sanitation protocols
- Recommend and coordinate third-party training opportunities for plant sanitation and food safety personnel
- Communicate with federal and state agencies to ensure ongoing compliance with food safety regulations as requested by site quality leadership
- Build and maintain one-to-one relationships with customer food safety and sanitation professionals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field STRONGLY PREFERRED (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for highly qualified candidates)
- Proven experience developing, implementing, or working within strong sanitation and food safety systems
- Technical expertise in food manufacturing equipment and Clean-in-Place (CIP): mechanics, PIN chart development, and reading technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills with a scientific approach and a focus on preventive action
- Comfortable working in varied environments (loud, wet, chemical exposure, large equipment)
- Collaborative and influential, with the ability to partner across Operations, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, vendors, auditors, and technical organizations
- Experience in fresh produce, meat, or dairy sanitation preferred
- Solid knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, federal/state regulations, and food safety requirements
- Flexibility to support a 24/7 manufacturing plant, including off-hours and weekends
- Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed

Compensation Range: $155,000.00 - $175,000.00, plus bonus.
