Summary
The WRRF Technician Lead will lead a team of technicians performing operations, preventative, and predictive maintenance on all Wastewater Primary Treatment, Secondary Treatment, and Tertiary Treatment. They will monitor and operate all associated equipment such as pumps, air compressors, chemical dosing systems, EQ Tanks, boiler units, anaerobic system, aerobic systems, SAF’s, Ultra Filtration, RO water purification processes, and Laboratory. Also, assists with Employee Participation Guidelines of the future NPDES Program for the operating facility.
Responsibilities
- Train others on all aspects of pumps, air compressors, chemical dosing systems, EQ Tanks, boiler unit, anaerobic system, aerobic systems, SAF’s, Ultra Filtration, RO water purification processes, and Laboratory
- Use knowledge from prior experience to give guidance and advice on problems
- Lead in complex work projects across multiple fields with a high degree of interaction between other departments
- Collaborate with other company staff including quality, engineers, and project managers
- Pro-actively contribute technical input
- Guide teams and management on applications
- Mentors the team to be innovative in techniques and processes that will advance the work of the team
- Work directly with suppliers, vendors, and contractors
- Mentors other team members in professional and ethical behavior
- Maintains the relationship with various vendors and contractors
- Leads the technical priorities for the team and takes responsibility of completing technical work
- Maintains and directs wasting for managing the MLSS of the aeration tanks
- Understands and follows safe practices for all chemical dosing, storage, and correct uses.
- Install, repair, tear down and rebuild system components on all phases of primary treatment, secondary treatment, and tertiary treatment.
- Knowledgeable of all emergency drain plans for all phases of treatment process
- Observe and test system operation, using gauges and instruments
- Understand component controls and overall controls of the system
- Electrical trouble shooting skills on treatment systems
- Test lines, components, and connections for leaks
- Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts and reassemble repaired systems
- Adjust valves according to specifications and pressurize piping within the system in a safe manor
- Install wiring to connect components to an electric power source
- Perform mechanical overhauls
- Cut, bend, thread, and connect pipe and tubing
- Keep records of repairs and replacements made and causes of malfunctions
- Use/update SOPs, drawing mark-ups and logbooks to communicate across shifts
- Working knowledge of Process Safety Management System and regulations, boiler and UASB system, and compressed air systems
Requirements
- Identify root cause, implement corrective actions and preventive/predictive actions
- Strong communication skills resulting in positive rapport with teams to drive initiating, promoting, and maintaining collaboration
- 5-7 years of experience working in a wastewater plant is preferred
- Possess a strong dedication to team dynamics and give expertise to follow leadership's directives as needed
- Maintain SAFs and froth generators
- Maintain and operate centrifuge and screw press dewatering equipment
- Service WSAC and maintain correct chemical dosing and PMs
- Evaluate all wastewater treatment processes from beginning of treatment to FE
- Dismantle and repair any malfunctioning components associated with the UF systems and LAR panels including all other process monitoring devices
- Take wastewater tests and maintain chemical levels in the wastewater systems and adjust as necessary
- Ability to read & write the English language
- Maintain and understand basic electrical safety, PPE requirements, and chemical properties, safety, & health hazards, and functions of safety systems

- SOP/SMP awareness including the requirement to follow written procedures
- SOP The System Walkthrough Procedure
- Obtain class 3 & 4 Wastewater Treatment licensing

The salary range for this full-time position is $34.50 - $49.00, + bonus + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
