Summary

The Security Officer provides hands-on support for daily security, access control, and safety monitoring activities within Chobani’s high-rise office building at 55 Beach St. in Manhattan. The position helps maintain a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and building staff through lobby security operations, visitor management, patrols, and incident response. This position works Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and performs assigned operational tasks under established procedures. The position does not have supervisory or decision-making authority over other employees.

Responsibilities

Lobby Ambassador & Tenant Services

· Serve as a professional first point of contact for employees, visitors, and vendors entering the building

· Provide directions, assistance, and general customer service consistent with a Class A commercial office environment

· Maintain a professional and welcoming lobby presence while enforcing building access policies

· Coordinate with Chobani representatives to facilitate visitor access and building services

Visitor Management Systems

· Utilize Chobani’s Visitor Management System to register visitors, print badges, and track building access

· Issue and collect visitor badges in accordance with building procedures

· Verify visitor appointments and host authorization prior to granting building entry

· Maintain accurate visitor records within the ClearID platform and follow established security procedures

Lobby Security & Access Control

· Staff the main lobby security desk during assigned shift

· Monitor building entry points and ensure only authorized persons access the facility

· Verify employee credentials, building passes, and vendor authorizations

· Monitor security alarms and access control alerts and respond according to established procedures

Mail Delivery

· In coordination with the facilities team and receptionist, manage package deliveries and maintain delivery logs in accordance with building procedures

· Direct couriers and vendors to designated loading dock or freight elevator areas when required

· Coordinate with employees regarding package deliveries and vendor arrivals

Freight Elevator & Loading Dock Coordination

· Coordinate with facilities team and other relevant stakeholders regarding scheduled deliveries and vendor access

· Monitor activity at the freight elevator areas to ensure compliance with building policies

· Verify vendor credentials and delivery documentation before permitting access to service areas

Video Monitoring

· Monitor CCTV systems for security incidents, suspicious behavior, or safety concerns

· Report unusual activity promptly according to established procedures

· Assist with video review when requested by building management or security leadership

Interior Patrols

· Conduct scheduled patrols of lobby areas, common spaces, mechanical areas, and designated security areas

· Check doors, access points, and restricted areas for compliance with security standards

· Identify and report safety hazards, maintenance issues, or suspicious activity

Emergency Response & Fire Panel Monitoring

· Respond to building alarms, emergencies, or disturbances in accordance with Chobani procedures

· Monitor fire alarm panels and coordinate response procedures during alarms or system impairments

· Assist with building evacuations, emergency notifications, and coordination with emergency responders

· Coordinate with NYPD, FDNY, EMS, or other emergency responders during incidents or building emergencies

· Provide accurate information to responding agencies and assist with access control during emergency operations

· Support building management in documenting incidents and maintaining communication with responding authorities

Suspicious Activity Reporting

· Remain vigilant for suspicious activity and security concerns throughout the building

· Report suspicious activity promptly to Corporate Security and/or to authorities, as appropriate

Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· Prior experience in commercial building or corporate security preferred

· Strong attention to detail and observational skills

· Professional communication and customer-service skills

· Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate documentation

· Ability to work independently within defined guidelines

 

NEW YORK STATE SECURITY REQUIREMENTS

· Valid New York State Security Guard License required

· Completion of NYS 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course and 16-Hour On-the-Job Training Course

· Annual 8-Hour In-Service training as required by New York State

· Additional building certifications may be required (e.g., FDNY F-01 Fire Guard Certification for Impairment)

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / ADA CONSIDERATIONS

· Ability to stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods during a 12-hour shift

· Ability to conduct routine patrols of multiple floors and common areas within a high-rise building

· Ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds

· Ability to respond quickly to alarms, emergencies, or incidents within the building

· Ability to operate security equipment including radios, computers, video intercoms, access control systems, and CCTV monitoring systems

The salary range for this full-time position is $22.25 - $28.75, + bonus + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
